Professional Project

In two months time, I will finally be done with all of the classes required to finish my Masters program. But before I can graduate, I have to complete an independent capstone Professional Project.  The project is primarily research-based, and meant to be completed over the course of one semester – in my case, next Spring.

The goal with this project is to design an Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) campaign, based on existing and new research findings.  At the end of the semester, I will present my IMC plan to the faculty committee for a grade.

I went back and forth with different ideas for my project. Then my friend Monica suggested Catchafire, a web-based company that her friend Rachael from NYC started earlier this year. After a little research and speaking to Rachael, I knew this would be a great fit!

Through its online platform, matches non-profit organizations with skilled professionals who want to volunteer their time and expertise.

The company currently operates in the Greater NY/Tristate area, but a formal communication strategy has not been crafted to help the company a) acquire more qualified volunteers and b) expand beyond their current market.  This is where I come in!

I’m excited to start working on this in a few months. In the meantime, check out and follow Rachael on Twitter: @catchafire.
