Lemon-Cornmeal Cookies

{Original recipe by Martha Stewart}

The dire truth is that I haven’t stopped baking since I received my Kitchenaid. I’m sure you’ve noticed.

These particular cookies were introduced to me a few years ago by Lorraine, a friend from work.  I have definitely nagged her a few times, practically begging her to make them for me.

I used unbleached all-purpose flour instead of the regular kind (I try to stay away from buying products that contain bleached flour in general), and replaced white sugar with brown sugar because it’s what I had at home.

The cookies turned out delicious despite my revisions to the original recipe. A batch of perfectly flaky and lemony cookies.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

I had been wanting to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies from scratch for a long time. And now that I so luckily own a Kitchenaid, these cookies were first on the list.

I used this recipe, inspired by Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere, but replaced the all purpose flour with whole wheat flour* for a slightly healthier cookie.

* According to CookingLight, when baking with whole-wheat flour it’s important not to simply replace regular flour with whole wheat because there are definite texture and flavor differences. However, it’s safe to replace half of all-purpose flour with whole-wheat in most recipes.

Blogger Spotlight: Max Wanger Photography

{Max Wanger’s awesome cliff diving series}

I found Max Wanger’s blog via A Cup of Jo.   Joanna posted about her wedding and linked to MW’s blog where everyone could see the beautiful photos that he’d taken.

Of course, once I was there, I just had to look around. And if I were asked to describe his photos in one word: wow.

His style is unique, fun, refreshing and so creative.  Check out his LOVELIFE and EVERAFTER photos, and make sure to scroll all the way to the right! Go on, take a look.

PS. Ohh how I wish I could bring Max Wanger with me to Uruguay to shoot my wedding this November!
