Pressed

{The lighthouse at Jose Ignacio, Uruguay}

With the date fast approaching, I wanted to tell you a little about our wedding invitations. After all, they turned out exactly how we wanted.

They are a bit more casual than the traditional invitations typically chosen in both Argentina and Venezuela, and we feel they represent us well. They also set the mood for the beautiful seaside destination we’ve chosen for our big day.

After considering many alternatives, we mostly loved letterpress and hand-written calligraphy.

Lots of research led us to Blackbird Letterpress.  We worked closely with Kathryn to decide what the invitations would look like. She sent us several paper/design samples, and we sent her photos of the lighthouse at Jose Ignacio, near Punta del Este for her to draw on for the design.

Kathryn spearheaded the design and collaborated with calligrapher Betsy Dunlap. We had seen Betsy’s work online and decided it would be perfect for our invitations.

{Final product: 5″x7″ invitation & matching envelope}

We decided on 110# Lettra cotton paper in pearl white with torn/deckle edges. We also chose to have our address letter-pressed to the back of each envelope.

{Final touch: Fran stamped wax seals on each one of the envelopes!}

Thank you Kathryn & Betsy for working your magic to help create our most beautiful invitations. We love them.

[…] of my photos of  Jose Ignacio. A charming beach town, a beautiful lighthouse (that inspired our wedding invitations), and a seafood restaurant so good that you cannot miss it if you are ever in the area. […]
