Brrreckenridge

This past President’s Day weekend, we traded the warm Florida weather for some Colorado snow. After much research to decide on our ski destination, a group of 7 of us packed our bags and headed to Breckenridge for the long weekend.

We rented a condo within walking distance to both the base (lift) station and the town center. The apartment was perfect for our group; spacious,  fully equipped, comfortable, and cozy.  I highly recommend you check it out if you are ever planning a group trip to Breck.

We skied 3 out of the 4 days. The weather cooperated only on the first two, but in any case the skiing was nice and smooth.

On our day off the slopes we decided to go snowmobiling.  A complimentary shuttle picked us up at 9:00 am.

After a quick orientation and a few practice laps, we were off on our 2-hour tour of the Colorado Rockies. It was so much fun, though a bit scary at first, but nevertheless a total hit!

I will say, those snowmobiles do tip over easy! I almost managed to tip us over one time. However, it was Fran who was driving when we went straight into a pile of powder and got stuck!

One of the highlights of the excursion was standing right on the Continental Divide of the Americas!

Breckenridge is a charming little winter wonderland, with its horse carriages, bakeries and snowy streets.

On our last night, we unexpectedly stumbled into The Gold Pan Saloon to discover their famous happy hour special, 25 cent beers! It also happens to be the oldest bar in town, dating back to 1879.
